  • gina · 11 months ago
this post made me laugh so hard. my friend gave me twilight for Christmas and i said the same thing as you. why would i want to read this?!?! i just started today and will probably finish it TODAY b/c it is that GOOD!!!! i like the mindlessness. I like getting caught up in the fun. i can't wait to finish it. my one and only goal right now is to finish this amazing book!!! no gym for me. no cleaning the house for me. just pure twilight pleasure. cheers!
  • Lauren · 11 months ago
Don't worry! After you're done with the last book, you can go see the movie with all the teen girls who are seeing it for the gazillionth time! They may be saying the lines out loud, but who cares the movie is hott!! The only thing that sucks in my book is that since the book/movie is for teens, bella and edward never do the horizontal dance :( Why God why? Everyone knows teens are doing it, so why can't bella and edward do it too?

    :)

    Happy New Year!!
  • CancerAssKicker · 11 months ago
Amazing, isn't it?!?! Are you team Edward or Team Jacob? I got my husband a shirt (who hates Twilight) that says - on the front, "Team Jacob" and on the back, "Because Edward stole my wife's heart!" - Classic! I love you Kris! You have helped me so much in my won individual journey with cancer. Thank you for everything!
  • EarthMother - In The Raw · 11 months ago
Ahhhhhhhhhhh. Breathes a sigh of deep relief. She was at Hippocrates getting her temple cleaned and then a peace wreath appeared on the door and then...she vanished, never to be heard from again. Oh the worry. Oh the angst. Is she alright? Did something happen? We'd hear if something happened, right?

And here the cowgirl just ran away with the Cullens, that's all.

    Whew! Totally understandable.
  • Toronto Jen · 11 months ago
I got swept away myself too Kris...to feel like your 16 all over again...big sigh...

Not sure if you're up for it, but watching the HBO series "True Blood" is my latest vamp addiction so if you're up for it, you could 'sink your teeth' into that when you're done with Breaking Dawn.
  • RachelV · 11 months ago
Yippie!! You will never guess what I got for Christmas! My friend gave me a huge, life size cardboard cut out of Edward!!!!!!!!!
  • CrazySexySteph · 11 months ago
Isn't it addicting??? I was totally skeptical about it, but my roommate made me read it. (The "I'm going to be a doctor and I only have time for studying" roommate!) Enjoy the rest of the book! Maybe you can incorporate Edward and Bella into book 3...
  • Deborah · 11 months ago
Happy New Year Kris, glad that all is well and that you've taken time just to relax, read, walk the dog, and chill.

    Have a great day!
  • Jennifer · 11 months ago
Love LOVE LOVE Twilight! My best friend got me hooked on those books. I read them all in a week. Needless to say, I didn't do anything else with my time besides work. You are not the only 30-something to fall in love with these books, so don't feel bad at all and don't be embarrassed! :-) So, the question is, are you Team Edward or Team Jacob?

BTW- you talked some sense into me on your forum that day when you took questions.... I'm off coffee AND dairy! Seven days and counting and I don't miss a thing! Thank you, Kris, for assuring me I could do this and that I'm worth it.

    Team Edward baby!!

Am I the ONLY person in the world who hasn't read these??? I got a bit scared off by some of the intertube talk about the books and stuff and so never ended up picking on up but perhaps I should. Ok - so just read through the comments before posting mine and Yes, it's official, I'm the only one that hasn't read them yet. :|

I've always been a vampire fan, was a huge fan of Anne Rice and her Lestat and other characters...

Hmmm.. and I see that Corrine is on to another series so watch out Kris! ha!

Happy New Year to you, Brian and Lola!! BIG HUGS to you
  • REO · 11 months ago
    Well Kris,

You do know that Stephenie Meyer lives in Arizona - Cave Creek, I believe.

Soooo, the next time you are in town, why not look her up (one celeb to another)!

  • Goony · 11 months ago
Maaaaaann I need something like this SO bad. I am really sick and tired of constantly thinking about what is the next step I need to take and praying it's the right one. I am sick and tired of thinking about health! It's on my mind day and night. I am up at 3:00 am obsessing about it. Time the fuck out! I got a 40% off coupon for Borders and I am off to go get bitten. Thanks Kris.

    Goony
  • Iffat · 11 months ago
OMG, Now we know, Our CowGIrl is bitten by Twilight Mania......I totally understand......I have been bitten too.......ITs soooo......addicting. CRAZY Addictive!!! I Loved reading your blog today... can't believe how hilarious you sounded!! LOLzzzz.
    Love YA!!!! .......~iffat Cullen...hehehe

P.S. The Big question......Are you Team Edward or Team Jacob???
  • Corinne · 11 months ago
Hooray! The fact that this series gave Kris a mental vacation could not make me HAPPIER. We all need to take a break and dive into something totally indulgent. Plus, its harmless! I would take Edward and Bella over chocolate any day (and I don't have to feel guilty about it the next morning). I've moved on to the Sookie Stackhouse series, which the HBO True Blood tv show is based on. Nothing beats Twilight, but Sookie keeps me entertained and tuned out (its also not so PG-13, if you know what I mean...). In case you need more Bella and Edward, Stephanie Meyer has posted the first 200 pages of her next book: Midnight Sun. Its the same story from Edward's perspective. Here is the link: http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/pdf/midnightsun_p.... Enjoy!
    xoxo
  • Tara · 11 months ago
Thanks a lot!!! Because of you I spent hours reading Midnight Sun's 264 pages last night--totally engrossed--like a thirteen year old!! (I'm 32....) Go Team Edward!!
  • Corinne · 11 months ago
ps- Has anyone read Stephanie Meyer's other book, Host? Don't give anything away! Just wondering if it is a good read:)
  • Goony · 11 months ago
I bought The Host for my mom and she said it was SO good they should make a movie out of it!
  • Angela · 11 months ago
The Host is AMAZING. As in I can't wait for them to make a movie of it. As in I can't wait for some great sequels. As in even my husband read it and loved it. :)
  • sandrajoseph · 11 months ago
So happy that you're stepping off of the ever-speeding-up treadmill of self-improvement for a bit. I go through huge pendulum swings of betterment and slackerhood. I'm trying a new approach this year- slow and steady, hoping to achieve balance. I do worry so when you disappear, though. Maybe just a two sentence blog for the in between time, so we know you're okay? I know, I need to work on my fear and anxiety and eliminate the family trait of aniticipating the worst case scenario.
  • Julie · 11 months ago
I literally squealed when I saw that picture pop up on here. I LOVE TWILIGHT. I'm 33 years old, I'm a mom, I have all kinds of worries - health, finances... Twilight is my sweet, fun escape. I'm glad you found it and enjoyed it too!

(oh, and what to do when you're done Breaking Dawn? You go to Stephenie Meyer's website and read the first several chapters of Midnight Sun, which is a companion book to Twilight written from Edward's perspective. It's the best one yet! But, alas, unfinished. Oh, and then see the movie!)
  • iza · 11 months ago
    Hi Kris, Happy New Year!!!
I discovered your blog a few weeks ago and I loved to read it.I think I became a blog addict!! You are amazing and strong woman.

My partner read the series and dragged me to the movie but now I have since become the #1 fan in the house. After the movie I came home and read the second book in one day. I'm half way through the third and plan to read the first when I've complted the fourth...I think I've watched every Robert Pattinson video on youtube. It's sad, very, very sad... love xx

    TEAM EDWARD!!!!!!
  • iffat · 11 months ago
    YaY!!! Team Edward........all the WAY!!!!
I am so addicted to these books.....
so Goony wants me to tell you this Kris, when I was reading Twilight and New Moon, Gosh, I was so hooked on it that my kids weren't getting lunch on time...........I am Serious.........they started loosing weight, then I realized that I gotta put Edward and Bella on the back burner....They were on mind 24/7. ....so I totally understand how you feel and now Goony is also going to start reading them......Man, she will be Missing........I am sure!!!
    Love to you all.....~iffat Cullen
  • iffat · 11 months ago
Btw, CancerAssKicker, I so loved your Tee-shirt........Man, I gotta get one of those for my hubby........LOLzzzz
  • Corinne · 11 months ago
Team Edward, hands down! I never strayed from him...!
  • Debbie W · 11 months ago
Hey, That was very funny! I've done the same thing from time to time. Good books are plain hard to put down. Meanwhile those around you wonder if you have dissapeared off the face of the earth or something. Makes me curious about those books now.... I thought they were WAY too frivolous for me for sure. VAMPIRES????? What a negative bunch of icky, bloody people.... EEuuuuuuuooooooooo........ Maybe not?
Glad you had some good down time. Now, onward to pH and stuff..
    Byeeeeee,
    Debbie
  • Beth · 11 months ago
OMG - same thing happened to me several weeks ago - friend - an MD - doesn't she have enough to do saving the world - gave me Twilight and I wasn't sure weather to kill her or thank her! I'm finished will the series - should I start them again??!!!
  • Tigerlilly · 11 months ago
I hate to tell you this, but she wrote another book called 'The Host'. There are no vampires and no Edward... but just as freakin' good!

I, too, finished the Twilight series in less then a week. By the time I returned to the real world my teeth had sharpened themselves and I started wearing a lot of black. LOL ... I refuse to watch the movie because I dont believe any director could make the movies as good as the one in my head!

  • Elizabeth Rotondo · 11 months ago
Okay, maybe I'm one of two people who hasn't heard of this series. It figures. I hear of it now that I just went back to work this week and spend ALL my spare time napping until I get my "work mojo" back. Why couldn't I have been "bitten" when I was home for seven months, watching reruns of House and Intervention?
Glad you got some quality fun "me" time in, Kris. You deserve it and I think it's neccesary to just treat ourselves and "veg" (no pun intended) once in a while.
Now keep those scary books away from me. I remember how quickly I became hooked on the "Interview with a Vampire" books. I'll check them out when I'm off for the summer! Peace, Liz

I just finished Twilight today. LOVED it. Knew I would though, I've been a vampire fan since Dark Shadows in the 70's!
  • Sarah · 11 months ago
Yay Kris got into Twlight! You're one of us now. The Harry Potter books were just as long but there were 7 of those! Have you seen the movie? Hello Dr. Cullen, will you be my husband please? Hope you a nice Christmas and New Year!
  • WendiDee · 11 months ago
OMG! Corinne is definitely the best friend ever to have gifted that series to you! Did you sob during the second one?! I felt Bella's depression so deeply all I could do was sob! My husband came home one day and found me in tears. I tried to explain, but all I could do was cry. Whenever Edward wasn't with Bella I felt like my heart was ripped out!

I'm like you--when I read a good novel I put the rest of my life on hold, only doing the absolute necessary things so that the world doesn't crumble. :-P I have the final novel on my desk and I have been waiting and waiting for the perfect time to read it (since, as I said, life is put on hold).

Did you go to see the movie, Kris? It's not half as good as the novels but it was fun to see the story on the screen.

Enjoy the rest of your time with the vampires and werewolves! I look forward to reading your blog when you return. Just knowing there are other vampires out here should make you feel less sad when you close the final novel. ;-)

    Lots of love to you,

    Wendi Dee
    XOXOXO

Even my son is hooked on the Twilight books......thinks the first book is better than the movie. My daughter has the series on her ipod !
You are scheduled to come to San Antonio in March as the speaker at the CTRC/CCC luncheon .......and I am excited to attend. I've arranged a room for you at the Fairmount Hotel- a very dog friendly place so feel free to bring your furry friends.
Hopefully our paths will cross and we'll get to chat.
Till then- thank Goddess for you and your words of wisdom !

    Ditto...to SandraJoseph's comments. Just a few words???
  • Elaine · 11 months ago
Well, when your done with Breaking Dawn, you breathe, you spend a few days walking around in a fog fantasizing about being a vampire. Then you come back to reality, and start over....because after all it's been an entire month since you started reading and you read so fast that surely you missed something! And we can always hope that she finishes Midnight Sun very soon!!!
  • Michjoy61 · 11 months ago
Yeah ok i am off to Amazon right now. Better yet i will hop over to Barnes and Noble so i can have the books in my grubby hands by nightfall. Don't know how long i will be MIA!!! Please know that i am alive and well and reading!!!

    I love you Kris Carr!
  • Kris Carr · 11 months ago
I had no idea that so many of us were hooked! Wow, I haven't had this many comments in one day in soooo long. Looks like we all need some good juicy escapes. This morning I dove back into one of my research/diet books. BORED. I read 5 pages and nearly hit the coffee pot. Now how do we balance fun and work? Fantasy and reality. My reality these days is one very out of shape body. Wouldn't it be great to multi-task reading with the thigh master? Remember that old ridiculous piece of squeezy metal that Suzanne Sommers was into? I'm thinking that I could loose myself and get Barbie legs at the same time!
  • Corinne · 11 months ago
Reading while on the elliptical or the stationary bike at the gym makes time fly! I always bring Sookie with me to pass the time:)

What a totally wonderful post. I think that post was far more inspiring then any planned "New Year, New You"

Lightening up is something we should all do. Like the saying " Don't sweat the small stuff, and it's all small stuff."
  • Kelly · 11 months ago
Okay, I am so new to this bloging stuff!
Here goes, I love the Twighlight series but it feels like Deja Vous to me!! Do you remember Rice's Interview With a Vampire with Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt???? Hello, this just seems like the light version of all that. Never the less, addicted like you, I am enjoying this new series very much and I am sleep deprived to prove it!
Thank you for all your health tips!

I'm glad you didn't take the warning seriously! You deserve Bella and Edward. We all did. You'll write a better book because of it, I'm sure.

Mmmm, just finished green smoothie, wonder if Edward & the Cullens enjoy blood as much, just a different color - unless you are from Mars......

I had the same experience! So much fun!

I saw the movie twice. Once (the first time) where I spent most of it comparing the book to the film and the second time to just chill and watch it. I liked it both times, but the second time better :) I saw "more" of it.

I'm looking forward to reading her book, "The Host" next up on my list - after I finish reading YOUR awesome book!!!

    Happy New Year!
    Kristen
  • Laura · 11 months ago
Good for you! I read Twilight when it first came out and loved it. I haven't read 3 and 4. If you're hungry for more vampire/paranormal fiction, I'd advise you to check out Charlaine Harris's first book in her Sookie Stackhouse series (Dead Until Dark). I dislike the HBO series (True Blood), but love the books. Or try Bitten by Kelley Armstrong. Well-written werewolf novel. Seriously good.

Best wishes on your new book!
  • tinaintheraw · 11 months ago
You are too funny Kris! Hey, you deserve to let go...there is nothing better than getting lost in a good book...

I'm right there with you! Am about 3/4 of the way through Breaking Dawn also. Soon it will end! I want to be a vampire too!
  • Tab - From Single to Married · 11 months ago
Ha - I know how you feel, I felt the same way when reading the books. But don't worry, there is life afterwards and you'll soon forget. In fact, I still haven't seen the movie and when I had finished the books, I was so excited for it!
  • Erin · 11 months ago
    Hi Kris,
This blog post made me laugh...and honestly I thought you were speaking of me. My friend was reading it and to be honest I never read Ficton and I to am always try to inspire and learn as much as I can to be the best me I can be. But wow something about this series that deeemd it necessary to cuddle up with some tea and a blanket and read away.
Hope You Are Well and sending love!
