Thanks to Jivamukti Yoga studio and Shandi for a fabulous yoga experience and thank you to all who provided the yummy food and recipes.
Kris, Teri and others on the team, thank you! I couldn't stay to chat yesterday as I had to get back to Connecticut, but I WILL see you this weekend at boot camp. I have lots to say, share, overcome, laugh and love with you about. xoxo
Tonight begins Rosh Hashana, the Jewish new year. I have my table set for 15 adults and 4 at the kids table. Included in that number are 6 teen-age boys....a lot of food is needed to feed this crowd. Well, if you don't know about a traditional Jewish holiday meal I can tell you it is NOT on the crazy sexy food plan.... a year ago I would have mouth watered for this meal and today it is grossing me out. One of my best friends, Jill, who is joining me in my crazy sexy life is coming and we will stick together and eat on out plan. My husband doesn't even want the brisket, which by the way I can make a mean brisket. (Those celebrating tonight will know what I am talking about.) For me, in some ways, this is a new year. Resolutions get made tonight as we wish for a sweet new year......for complete craziness and sexiness!

There is a Deepak Chopra center near me that offers FREE group meditation at noon every day. Why do I not show up? Why do I tell myself that I am mindful of my own spiritual life when in reality it always seems to barely make the list. I would LOVE a meetup centered around this.
Sandhi is amazing and she just so happens to also teach at my gym. I will also be making more trips down to Jivamukti.
Bless you, your amazing week and all the amazing days yet to come! Muchos besos:)
Is that true or just a rumour?
Love to you

I'm really bummed out. I was at Kripalu last night to hear a speaker and found out that you'll be there this weekend. I live real close by and said sign me up! Then they said you have a waiting list of 20. Good for you bad for me!
I'll have to keep an eye out for your next visit because I have to meet you. In many ways I feel like your cosmic twin, ... except older, short male, white bearded etc. But I can also relate with just about every experience you've been through and share your spirit.
On 2/22/07, I also heard the 5 dreaded words "you have inoperable, incurable cancer". This must be a joke or mistake ... they were only checking for gall stones. Where did a rare Stage IV canSer come from? Why didn't I have other symptoms? Plus, I never even heard of this type of canSer. OK, tell me what I have to do and I'll do it. The local docs talked about 3-6 months, based on statistics. So my wife and I headed down the Pike to Dana-Farber. We've had the most incredible experiences there. I love everyone I've come in contact with, but mostly my doc who gave me the most powerful medicine - Hope. He talked about living with cancer, targeted therapies, anti-angiogenesis and ignoring statistics. My mind set has always been "why not me". Somebody has to be in the small number that make it 5 years or more, so why can't it be me.
Still no cure for my canSer, and the treatment has been pretty rough at times, but I'm still here 18 months later, doing my best to live with it ,until there is a cure. Got to see my first grandchild born in March, walked my second daughter down the isle in July and I've raised a lot of money for the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber. My life now revolves around helping others through their journey, educating them about their options and trying to be a calming / positive role model. It's so much more rewarding than when I worked for one of the biggest corps in the world. I can't go to sleep at night unless I feel that I helped someone that day.
I hope to meet you one day. Your program sounds fantastic.

I'm part of this CSL community, and I just read your story, and wanted to tell you that I am a stage IV survivor going on 6 years. (My initial diagnosis was stage III, and that was 8 years ago.) I just wanted to tell you that because stage IV people get such scary statistics, but I'm here to tell you that taking care of yourself through programs like Kris's DOES PAY OFF. I still have disease and I still have to live on chemo. But I have an amazingly full life despite that, and no symptoms of my disease. I am totally passionate about this idea of Health Maintenance. and my life also revolves around helping others navigate their cancer journey. You are right, it is very rewarding. This journey has showed me the universality of suffering and that compassion is blessed work. May you be blessed and enjoy a long life!
Kris, you are so right on when you say that Health Maintenance should be our national priority. The latest fright over one's 401K value is nothing compared to the loss of one's health, yet most people don't think about that most important investment. We can't rely on our government to show us how. It will have to be a citizen effort involving education, support for small farmers and sustainable farming, protecting ourselves from environmental assaults like GMO farming, to assuring that our states have adequate water to produce crops.
My local cancer center is bringing a nationally known dietician and cancer survivor to speak next month about her change to a plant-based diet and her cancer recovery. I am hoping to help with a follow-up support group to help patients transition to that kind of diet. I believe that these kind of grass roots efforts are what is needed. Give people the tools. Perhaps your next role will be a leader in creating a model for people to duplicate and bring to their communities.
Congratulations on it all! Your life, your book, your outlook. I'm curious, what were your syptoms?
I would love to fly out there for a cool meet up this fall. I saw some fo your pictures on Penni Shelton's blog from the Raw Spirit Festival. Lokks like it was a great time. She's fellow Tulsan and Raw foodie. I'm moving back there in January ans was delighted to find that she has started and active community of health loving life lights!!!
Anywho, how to join the New York Posse? Didn't see a link? Maybe I'm missing something?
