Kris Carr's Crazy Sexy Blog: How and where to vote 101

  • Mel · 1 year ago
I volunteered with the Obama campaign Saturday and Sunday evening in NC. I didn't really feel comfortable cold calling people or going door to door, so I volunteered to do some data entry. All of the people the canvassers talk to have to be recorded, so that's where I came in. Super easy, and I feel great that I helped in some way! So, if you're shy, there's still probably something you can do. One other thing--as long as you are at the polls by closing time, you can still vote, no matter how long it takes. Know your rights!

I am so excited about tomorrow, I can hardly stand it! I don't even want to watch CNN any longer because the projections are driving me nuts. Looking forward to popping the cork of some bubbly tomorrow night! I hope that the forum lights up with chatter about the election and their experiences at the polls.

I am incredibly excited too!! Obama has a major rally planned for South Philadelphia tonight and some friends and I are taking our children to see him speak. For the first time in my life, I can finally understand the magic that my parents spoke of with regard to JFK....may this be the beginning of the changes we so desperately need!!!

Each and every vote does matter - PLEASE get out there (if you haven't already done so) and let's make it happen!

    Hello! :o)

I just spent 2 1/2 hours standing in line, the majority of that outside in the cold, waiting to vote, and I have to tell you it was definitely worth the wait. I call myself getting there early, but I think folks must've slept in their cars the night before because the line wrapped around the polling station and weaved throughout the parking lot before sunrise! Instead of the frustration I would normally feel from waiting in such a long line, I was inspired to see so many people, of all walks of life, coming together to have their vote count.

If you happened to have taken pictures of this momentous occasion, consider uploading them to the Polling Place Photo Project at NYtimes.com (http://pollingplaces.nytimes.com/). The Polling Place Photo Project is a nationwide experiment in citizen journalism that encourages voters to capture, post and share photographs of this year’s primaries, caucuses and general election. By documenting local voting experiences, participants can contribute to an archive of photographs that captures the richness and complexity of voting in America.

Cheers to all and happy voting!
