Kris Carr's Crazy Sexy Blog: Fast-a-thon

  • egocollection · 11 months ago
Hi Kris, I have only fasted once and I did it for 10 days. It went really well as I had a "schedule" for my intakes and did not just drink it when I was hungry. This way I was never really hungry. I drank 1 full tea mug every 2 hours and for lunch and dinner I took 2 full tea mugs. I am considering joining you. Please blog about it!!!! Gook Luck fasting.
  • Lanae · 11 months ago
Please please blog about it!!! And share the veggie soup recipe if you would. Here is the scoop, I've never intentionally fasted but due to tooth troubles I do when I have one pulled. That is happening -again-Friday (the tooth fairy commeth) so I'd love to know how you're doing and what you consume! Thanks Kris. Puppy pets to Lola - loved her pics the other day...
  • fajnor · 11 months ago
Hi Kris. I've fasted a few times for short periods, a day or two, but am considering fasting more often and maybe a longer period of time. Please blog about your fasting, would love to hear more about it. Also, can you give us the recipes (soup & juice) that you use. Thanks a bunch :)
  • Jen B · 11 months ago
Heall yeah. I would love to have any blogging about feasting! My liver (apparently) is wobbling around in its last legs and so I'm motivated to organize and commit to cleansing efforts.

I will also start to "feast" on Wednesdays for sure. I just am feeling cautious about doing it correctly since my liver is in such a precarious state. Will you give is some "feasting" options for those days? Sorry to be such a newbie.

Thanks for pioneering (again!) another interesting/beneficial territory.

    Love ya, Jen B.

Ummm .... not sure on the "heall". Meant "hell" but maybe slipped in a Freudian "heal". This is my brain off Starbucks. :-(

LOL @ the starbucks line ...

Oh please do share! I always have the best intentions to fast but always come up with some reason not to......

By the way, I am headed to Sandhi's yoga class today! I've been taking her class ever since the meetup. Love her! Thanks for the intro :)

  • Dianne_in_DC · 11 months ago
I often fast on Saturdays. Probably Wednesdays would be too much of a temptation here at the office with a wonderful cafeteria. Wednesdays is chicken tortilla soup day. On Saturdays I often only have green tea or a power drink and don't eat until dinner. I just lost the entire contents of my refrigerator due to a blown relay, so I am ready to literally start over from scratch. The major thing that survived was catnip.

I,M GREEN JUICING AND WEARING MY '' MAKE JUICE NOT WAR'' T-SHIRT EVERY WEDNESDAY !!!!!!!

You know who is the master faster: Phillip McCluskey of lovingraw.com.

myself: only 3 days.. not long ones for me.
    Cheers!

Hi Kris, please blog about fast more. Do you take enzymes for digestion so much green juice? Thanks
  • Raw Warrior · 11 months ago
Hey Kris, My longest feast has been around 15 days. I agree with Corrine that it's great to do it with a buddy. My Mom (78 y young) will feast with me and she did the 15 days as well. I'd love it if you'd blog about your feasting. I'd love to join you and others on Wednesdays starting next week. I'm just waiting to get back to work (soon) and then I plan on doing a long term juice feast - can't wait!

    Happy feast day!
  • Kris Carr · 11 months ago
Ok, so we're in the office, working full swing (new website/blog goes live NEXT WEEK - don't be shocked when you come here!) and we're about to make a 4th juice.

    Here's how we do it:

    Schedule, schedule, schedule!

    9 am
    11am
    1pm
    3pm
    6pm blended soup

We're not super-chefs or culinary mavericks - we just juice what we got!
I'm about to make cuke, romaine, celery and pear. If you're staying away from sugar (cancer or candida perhaps) you may want to ditch the pear.

Our lunch time juice (16 oz each sitting) was kale, lemon, cuke, celery, dandelion greens... Yum-ish.

Dinner = avocado, tomato, romaine, olive oil (just a drizzle), braggs (or sea salt), celery and scallions. Maybe a little cayenne to zip it up! Throw it in your blender and whir!

I cheated a little and started with a smoothy. YUM! Technically a juice fast would be best but I had meetings all morning so I knew I would miss our 11 am feast.

My new exciting super-secret: Take your E-3 Live and pour it in an ice tray. Add a cube to your smoothies!!!!
  • RawFitMama · 11 months ago
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh e3 live ice cubes!!! friggin genius!

<pouring into my dolphin shaped ice cube tray as we speak> :)
  • debbiedoesraw · 11 months ago
if you want a good smoothie, try Bunny Spice from raw food real world.. but it does have bananas.. you know how I love my fruit !!!!!
this is good that you are all together and on a schedule, that makes it more fun and easier I think,
    Stay green baby!
    deb xoxoxoxo
  • RawFitMama · 11 months ago
I love my fruit too!!! thanks for the heads up. Imma look it up in RFRW right now.

    Hey Crazy Sexy Juicy Chick!

I have had my go at feasting and fasting...it serves it's purpose well. THere are a few great blogs I go to for inspiration www.aleeshasrawlife.blogspot.com and www.rawmom.blogspot.com. They are both big time LIFESTYLE feasters. it's remarkable to witness.

I also know that Miss Angela Stokes has a great recipe for "Energy Soup". I have had it several times and it's amazing. She has youtube video of her making her (youtube: angela stokes energy soup) and it pops up.

I was just thinking of doing this one day a week..preferably on Sundays. I lift weights pretty heavy and hardcore, so I can't be fasting and FAINTING with 2 dumdbells in my hands! Can you see me under the weights on the floor wrinkled up like an organic hunza raisin screaming, "but I'm feasting....i'm feasting!"

Please do blog juicy goddess... i'm sure it will benefit the MASSES.

    crazy sexy hugs,
    Jayna'

Ok Kris... so after my last comment I started washing dishes in my pink elbow gloves and staring at the snow covered mountains outside of my window (also known as specks of snow on a tiny hill outside my back door) and I realized that "Juicy Wednesdays" WOULD be a great day to juice...hmmmm it's an cardio only day for me and I could sweat and purify on the same day...

Why am I leaving this as a comment??? I don't know... maybe b/c I imagined you over at your office saying "Please let Jayna' feast with the goddess group on Wednesdays" over a candlelit altar and I wanted to tell you that you could stop now ;-)

    I adore you,
    Jayna'
  • Kris Carr · 11 months ago
That's it! You named it! THE GODDESS GROUP! YES! Love your comments girl and perhaps you can motivate me to get my skinny (yet fat) ass to the gym.
Tis true, skinny people can be jelly like creatures.
    HA!

  • RawFitMama · 11 months ago
Yes Kris...there IS a such thing as "skinny fat"... I'm not sure if you fit in that category, but then I've never seen you naked..so I'll take your word for it.!!!

Email me for inspiration WHENEVER. I'm all about weight training for a lean toned physique.. I got your back skinny :-)

    Go GODDESS GROUP!!!

Hi everyone, I am new to this blog... but found the CrazySexyCancer video on Youtube a while back. I watched it about five times because I found it to be so inspiring.

I am also new to juicing... but am looking forward to sharing in it with all of you goddesses. My mission in life is to heal myself and others. How perfect! Tomorrow is Wednesday! Yeah!
  • Santa_Cruz_Jen · 11 months ago
Please, do share! I need to learn how to fast / feast. Nutrition nuggets needed! I have one of those mysterious cancers that no one knows what to really do with, so bring on the healing goodness.

Lola is adorable. I got a pound pup too a few months ago and I even have those same monkey slippers! kindred cancer cowgirls we are... Thanks for being such a positive force!

Sending you love and light from Santa Cruz,
    Jen

ps good thoughts for Steve Jobs!!!!!!!

I've done 3 juice fast. The shortest was 7 days the longest was 30 days. I was actually depressed when I stopped fasting. I had so much energy and felt amazing! Plus when you're living off of juices alone you don't have to take the time to prepare foods, work out a menu for the week etc. Just juice and go. I had so much extra time to do the things I love! All this talk is tempting me to start doing what you've been doing and fast 1 day a week.
  • JuicinMamaJama · 11 months ago
Girl...you gotta blog! I definitely need encouragement and guidance in this area. I was looking into going to the Tree of Life but am contemplating doing this on my own...blog away!
  • Casey Lorraine · 11 months ago
Hey Kris and everyone, mmm juicing...love it!! Longest I've done is 7 days and loved it! Although the smell of fresh fruits at the end of it caused me to salivate all over my clothes, the floor, the world! Yum!!!

I am definitely in for Wednesday fasting. Perfect day for me and I'm all for the community fun!

    Nice work love!!

I honestly have never fasted but I wouldn't mind trying it in the(near)future.
I would love to read about the process. I would probably laugh at you when you're bitching about it but...
NO, I'm kidding, haha. Really, it would be an honor to read about what you have to go through and I promise not to laugh.

I would love to join in on fasting/feasting on veggie juice on Wednesdays, and think it will be empowering to know so many of us are joining together to heal our bodies on the same day. And I'll wear my Make Juice Not War t when I exercise on Wednesdays, too. Wore it to "Hot" yoga this weekend and is was good and soaking wet with beautiful sweat when I was done -- those cancer cells were dying -- I just know it!
    All the best!

    HI kris,
I would love it if you blogged about your weekly fast!
I only tried it once but I was on chemo at the time and felt too weak to keep it up.
Now that I am off chemo and well I could use the inpiration/motivation to try it again.
    Thanks for everything,
    Laetitia

    hey kris
I did the breuss cancer cure fast and I lasted only 11 days it's just teas and sips of veggie juice. The fast actually goes for 42 days and a man I know did it to cure his lung cancer and it worked he's still alive 2 years on and no mass on lung gone. I got so skinny though I lost 8 kgs but felt clean and alive so please blog about it because I would love to do it again and I need a bit of inspiration

Hey Kris! I am on day 13 of my 100 day juice feast...Today I feel like I have a sense of adventure lurking in my bones. I am going to take my kickboxing class cuz I feel the power to do so. Just taking one day at a time and feeling well.
  • Chris in Wyoming · 11 months ago
I would so love to try this...I turn to food when I am bored, depressed. When I slip into a dark place after chemo (I just finished number 62!), I nibble til I feel better and then, til I feel sick. Ugh. I will look to this space for ideas and encouragement. A Wednesday feast would be so great. Thanks to this entire, amazing Village. You all ROCK!!
    hugs,
    Chris in Wyoming

I am now on day 7 of a juice feast (4 - 5 quarts of juice a day) and am aiming for 90 days total with a day of feasting each week thereafter. I juice feasted last fall for 23 days - felt absolutely amazing at the end and the blood test done after showed amazing results - raised my HDL from 34 to 47. The first 2 weeks of detox were pretty bad - felt like crap. I remember you saying in your film you wanted to do bad things with bad people - knew that feeling! By around day 20, I just couldn't believe a human could feel that good! I have not had near the detox symptoms this second time around and am feeling pretty great on day 7.

I am following the program at www.juicefeasting.com and highly recommend it for any at home juice feasters. They have the whole program there for free, or you can pay for an expanded view. I found the expanded view an amazing addition. The daily videos are extremely supportive and educational. There is also a community support group. People feast from anywhere from 1 day to 100. It's all good!

Oooo, Wednesdays sound great! Nice to know there will be others out there to do it together. My husband and I will fast/feast together and it definitely helps the cause. Where are you headed? I'm making arrangements for Cousin's Tree of Life for late spring/early summer, but for a 10-day. Can't wait.

love love love and here's to Wednesdays
  • Ambidee · 11 months ago
I have just ordered a juicer, inspired by your diet adventures. I would love to hear more about the Wednesday feasts :-). A big hug from the Netherlands and thank you for the inspiration!
  • RawinMontana · 11 months ago
Last Winter, I enjoyed 30 days of all juice (3-4 quarts a day) and 10 more days of juice and green smoothies. It was amazing and probably among the best I've felt in my whole life and I usually feel pretty damn good! You can check out my blog at www.rawinmontana.blogspot.com and go right the 1st day of the blog to see my Juice Feast! I just did 5 days of juice and havebeen the pondering the Wednesday liquids myself. Thank you for the inspiration and gorgeous honesty!!
  • KombuchaCHIC · 11 months ago
Good luck with the fasting, Kris! The most I have done is about 4 days on juice last year. I have a hard time fasting with all the calories I burn.
  • Jill · 11 months ago
    Hi Kris,
Would love to hear more about your fasting and the facility you will be fasting at. Especially would like to have soup recipe. I'll be 38 in a few months and was diagnosed with epitheloid hemangioendothelioma in the lungs in 2005.
    Love & Blessings
